Today, we are going to talk about the Toyota’s traditional Compact Crossover SUV, RAV4. The main manufacture purpose of the RAV4 was relying on the consumer demand which is the integration of the SUV Design and Compact Car Performance in one vehicle. Consumers wanted a vehicle which has the physical benefits of a SUV such as; large cargo space, big sized body design and the four wheel drive along with the fuel efficiency and the manoeuvrability features of a compact car. Because of that demand, Toyota manufactured RAV4 (Recreational Activity Vehicle: 4 Wheel Drive). It made his debut in 1994 as the first compact crossover SUV in Europe and Japan. Just two years later it introduced in North America. In global market, RAV4 is the only Compact SUV. Throughout generations this SUV turned into a legacy for Toyota brand. We are going to analyse this legacy under three main categories such as; The Features of the Toyota RAV4, The Fuel Consumption of the Toyota RAV4 and Does it Suits You?
The Features of the Toyota RAV4
Now, let’s talk about some feature of the RAV4. The body of the RAV4 has sharp lines with a powerful presence on the road which looks attractive and remarkable. The unique design of the adaptive LED head and tail lights adds some characteristics which is special for RAV4. In addition to body design, interior design looks very detailed and technological too. Interior’s main point of interest is the Multimedia Entertainment System which has got a 7 inched Multi Touch Screen along with the Wireless Charging Unit. Moreover, this system perfectly supporting with the Apple Car Play and JBL Sound System. RAV4 also offers you some technological features which has positive affect on the driving experience. The features such as; Multi Terrain Select offers the maximum handling ability to the driver in different terrains such as; Mud, Sand, Rock or Dirt. Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control which adjusts the average distance between your car and the other one with a pre-selected speed. When this distance decrease into the dangerous levels, the system decreases speed level automatically. Also, there are some other useful features such as; Pre-Collision System with Night Time Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, Full Range Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Trace Assist, Road Sign Assist etc. All of them is for your safety and comfort.
The Fuel Consumption of the Toyota RAV4
It is time to make a conversation about the fuel consumption of the RAV4. For a useful analysis we must analyse the engines in a proper way. RAV4 has three engine options which are; 2.0, 2.0 D-4D and 2.5 Hybrid. That’s why we are going to analyse these engines under two main categories such as; The Most Economical One and The Most Powerful One. First, let’s start with the most economical one which is 2.0 D-4D. It is a four cylindered, 1995 cm3 sized, Diesel Type engine which produces 143 Horsepower and 4000 RPM Torque. According to the official factory data, 2.0 D-4D has a 5.4 lt/100km (which refers to 52 MPG in UK) MPG Performance in Urban usage. However, this fuel consumption rate decreasing to 4.3lt/100km (which refers to 66 MPG in UK) in Extra Urban usage such as Highway and Long Distance Trip. When we combine these two data, we get a 4.7lt/100km (which refers to 60 MPG in UK) average MPG rate. Secondly, we are going to talk about the most powerful one which is; 2.5 Hybrid Executive. It is a four cylindered, 2494 cm3 sized, Hybrid Type engine which produces 197 Horsepower and 5700 RPM Torque. According to factory data, 2.5 Hybrid has got a 4.9lt/100km (which refers to 58 MPG in UK) fuel consumption performance in Urban usage. On the other hand, in Extra Urban usage this rate increasing to 5.0lt/100km (which refers to 56 MPG in UK) surprisingly. When we combine these two data we get a 5.0lt/100km (which refers to 56 MPG in UK) average fuel consumption rate.
Does it Suits You?
My answer to this question is yes! If you are looking for a SUV which has multi-functional skills as a vehicle. It can adapt to anywhere you go, and it is a fuel efficient vehicle. Especially the Hybrid version. By using the present day technology to the limits, it offers anything you want as a vehicle. Japanese manufacturers showed to the world once again that Toyota is one of the most innovative brands in automotive industry. What is their next movement? No one knows.
