Renault Talisman Review

In this review, we will take a closer look at the Renault Talisman, which the Renault brand has launched to make a difference in the mid-size car segment. As always, we will evaluate the details about the Talisman under three main categories, such as The Features of the Renault Talisman, The Fuel Consumption of the Renault Talisman, and Does It Suit You? Before starting the review, I would like to inform you about the history of Renault Talisman. Renault Talisman (Renault Samsung SM6 with its name in the automotive market in South Korea) is a D-Segment car that first appeared as a concept car in 2001 and started mass production in 2015. The car was first introduced at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and has launched in the same year. With its launch, Talisman replaced Renault's older generation Laguna and Latitude models and became one of the first members of the new generation.

The Features of the Renault Talisman

Although Renault Talisman looks like a new car model, its history goes back to the early 2000s. Before the Talisman project became concrete, the design created by Renault chief designer Patrick Le Quement was called the Renault Z12 project at that time. This futuristic design wonder attracted attention with its different features compared to standard vehicles of that period. Although the car, created according to the Touch Design concept, looks aesthetic, it did not have the chance to start mass production at that time. Talisman was built on the CMF-CD platform, jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. Thus, it became the second model of the Renault brand using the CMF platform after the Espace model. The car has produced with two different body options, estate, and sedan. Talisman has five trim levels in the European automotive market. This feature allows the car to appeal to people from different economic segments. Talisman also proves to be a very safe car by getting five stars from Euro NCAP tests. When we look at the body of the car, it is possible to see that it has a very elegant and harmonious design. It seems that the Renault’s design team prefers rather smooth transitions and fine details instead of sharp body details. This is a very good decision. These details make the car much more stylish. Nowadays, most cars renounce some important details while trying to make themselves sportier with sharp lines. Also, it is certain that Talisman is a bigger and lower car compared to its predecessor Laguna. Talisman's interior design details are very interesting. When you enter the car, you encounter a very luxurious and carefully constructed cabin design. Dim lighting in the cabin makes you feel in a very intimate atmosphere. Also, the superior technology in the centre console and the giant touch screen offer a very simple and easy-to-use control system.

The Fuel Consumption of the Renault Talisman

Now, we are going to focus on the fuel consumption of the Renault Talisman. We usually work on popular engine types and making analyses on them by checking details for an efficient fuel consumption analysis. While choosing the right car, you need specific and simple information. That’s why we are using this distinction method to make things easier for you. We use two main categories to make a useful distinction such as The Most Economical One and The Most Powerful One. Renault Talisman has got six standard engine varieties such as 1.5 dCi, 1.6, 1.6 dCi, 1.7, 1.7 dCi and 1.8. We are going to analyse two of them as the most economical and the most powerful one. We can start with the most economical one which is 1.5 dCi. It is a four cylindered engine structure with a 1461 cm3 size. It is using a Diesel feed fuel system so we can say that it is a Diesel type engine. It can produce 110 HP and 4000 RPM Torque. According to the official factory data, 1.5 dCi has got a 4,0lt/100km (which refers to 71 MPG in the UK) fuel consumption performance in Urban usage. However, this fuel consumption rate decreasing to 3,4lt/100km (which refers to 83 MPG in the UK) in Extra Urban usage such as Highways or Long- Distance Trip. When we combine these two consumption data, we get a 3,6lt/100km (which refers to 78 MPG in the UK) average fuel consumption rate. Now we will focus on the most powerful engine, which is 1.8 TCe. It has got a four cylindered engine structure with a 1798 cm3 size. It is a petrol type engine which produces 225 Horsepower and 5200 RPM Torque. 1.8 has got a 9,0lt/100km (which refers to 31 MPG in the UK) fuel consumption in Urban usage. On the other hand, this fuel consumption rate decreasing to 6,0lt/100km (which refers to 47 MPG in the UK) in Extra Urban usage. When we gather these two fuel consumption performance data, we get a 7,0lt/100km (which refers to 40 MPG in the UK) average fuel economy rate.

Does It Suit You?

The Renault Talisman may be the car that will take the Renault brand to the top in the mid-size car class. Its attractive exterior and classy stance are enough to impress all types of drivers. At the same time, the harmony of the high-end technology and elaborate design that it contains can easily connect you to the vehicle. Moreover, its high performance and low fuel consumption will make your budget happy. For these reasons, you should consider Renault Talisman as a perfect option when buying a car.
