How Does a Fog Light Work?

When we look at the working principle of fog lights, we can see some differences compared to normal headlights. While normal headlights illuminate most of the front of the vehicle, the points targeted by the fog lamps are slightly different. Fog lights are usually placed at the bottom of cars, that is, the closest part to the road. The biggest reason for this is that the fog travels like a curtain on the road rather than penetrating the road itself. For this reason, the fog lights are inclined towards the road and send the light to the road and illuminate the road, not the fog layer. Thus, the driver gains a clear view to see the front.

How Many Meters Does Fog Head Light Illuminate?

Fog lights are produced for shorter distances than normal headlights. The main purpose in production is to be able to see the front of the vehicle. Fog lights therefore provide an average field of view of 1 to 2 meters. It is effective even though the distance is low because it illuminates at an angle of 60-70 degrees. The fog light colour should be in the yellow or orange colour range. The reason for this is that the colour that diffuses the least in foggy, rainy or snowy weather is in this range.
